The Jib Boom Crane

A lifting crane is a machine for lifting discontinuous movement designed to raise and distribute loads in space suspended from a hook.

As a general rule are mills that have sheaves, balances, simple mechanisms , and so on. to create mechanical advantage and manage to move heavy loads.

The first lifting cranes were invented in ancient Greece , powered by men or animals. These lifting cranes were used mainly for the construction of tall buildings. Subsequently, larger cranes were developed using pulleys to allow lifting heavier weights. In the Middle Ages were used in ports and shipyards for the stowage and construction of ships. Some of them were built stone towers anchored to provide additional stability. The first cranes were built of wood, but since the advent of the industrial revolution the materials used are cast iron and steel .

The first mechanical energy was provided by steam engines in the s. XVIII . Modern cranes usually use internal combustion engines or systems, electric motor and hydraulic forces to provide much greater, although manual cranes are still used on small jobs or where it is uneconomical to have energy.

There are many different types of lifting cranes, each tailored to a specific purpose. Sizes range from the smallest jib crane s, used inside workshops, tower cranes , used to build tall buildings, to the floating cranes, used to build oil rigs and rescue stranded ships.

There are also machines that do not fit the exact definition of a crane, but are generally known as such.Jib Cranes

Tower Crane

The tower crane is a modern crane balance. This is attached to the ground (or some structure attached). Because of the scale and height that can develop are widely used in the construction of tall structures. The horizontal beam is called a lattice boom and tower called vertical pillar. At the end of the tower is the crown where it turns the pen. The pen has a counterweight on one end to create balance and is also charged in the foundation to get the time of embedment necessary to function. For the correct operation of the crane drivers must exist torques, away … to avoid placing the lifting crane to higher voltages needed. For guiding the crane can use signals or radio communication.

The control can be performed from ground or from a booth located at the top of the tower. The crane operator must be a qualified person responsible for the misuse of the crane may result in serious accidents.

The lifting crane assembly is usually done with a mobile crane.

Crane auto down

Cranes are able to dismantle by themselves without requiring another lifting crane for installation. They are fast and more expensive than tower cranes, as well as its scope may be more limited than these.

Telescopic crane

A telescopic crane is found many tubes inside each other. A hydraulic or other mechanism extends or retracts the system until the desired length. These types of systems are used in rescue operations, systems on ships … The compact telescopic crane makes it easily adapted to mobile applications. Not all telescopic cranes are fixed, there are also mobile.

Luffing crane or Transtainers

A crane is widely used in ports for the transport and stacking of containers.
